Our Areas Of Focus
As a South Georgia black chamber, we create opportunities for our members in the areas of Business, Community, and Government.
We oversee business matters, in the area of economic development, trade, tourism, capital markets, transportation, retail, and other business sectors.
We oversee public policy and regulatory matters at the local, state, federal, and international levels, including military affairs.
We oversee community matters, in the area of community relations, education, health, and human services, public safety, judicial matters, and other sectors impacting social enterprises.
The Southern Georgia Black Chambers is a non-profit organization consisting of individuals engaging in Business, Community, and Government activities. Our mission is to achieve the objectives of promoting business and community growth and development by educating the black business community in the Southern Region of the Georgia Coalition of Black Chambers and representing them in the city, county, state, and national legislative and political affairs; promoting economic programs designed to strengthen and expand the income potential of all business within the region of Southern Georgia; promoting programs of civic, social and cultural nature which are designed to increase the functional and aesthetic values of the community; and discovering and correcting abuses which prevent the promotion of business expansion and community growth.
Why the SGBC?
Our membership base represents market sectors from
an array of privately owned entities to non-profits.
The nation’s African American buying power has risen to over $1 trillion dollars. Our state of Georgia is the third largest black consumer market in the nation with over 70 billion in African American spending.
That same population seeks out the SGBC because of our ability to effectively address the cultural needs and capture the interests of this diverse population throughout the United States.
Creating opportunities for our members has been and continues to be our number one priority. It is our goal to ensure our member businesses and organizations bring value to the marketplace, remain relevant and competitive, and be sustainable for future generations.
